Treasure Of Faith

th

Another treasure in God’s treasure field is that of faith. In Mark 11:22 Jesus said “Have faith in God”, or as the King James margin says “Have the faith of God.” Then Romans 12:3 states that “God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.” God plants the “seed” of faith in each of our hearts and we all stand equal and on level ground before Him, and none can say I am higher or more favored than you; however faith is a living and growing seed which must be fed and nurtured to maintain its life and growth, and it is up to us to implement this process. Romans 10:17 says “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” The Bible says so much about faith that we cannot adequately cover it in a short meditation; defined, faith is persuasion; it is confidence; it is reliance, conviction, trust, and belief. It is that God given “commodity” by which the patriarchs of old “…subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises…out of weakness were made strong… [endured being] tortured…mockings and scourgings, yes and of chains and imprisonment… [and] obtained a good testimony” (read this entire text in Hebrews 11:32-40). Faith is necessary to please God according to Hebrews 11:6. Jesus is “the author and finisher of our faith” Hebrews 12:2, i.e. the captain, chief leader, or inventor, as well as the completer or consummator; in the allusion to the Grecian games He is the judge of the games who admitted the contenders and gave the prize to the conqueror, according to Adam Clarke. It is on these last two verses that Rose has based her poem for this week, which is entitled:

The Treasure Of Faith

-By Rose Hill

The treasure of faith is a treasure so great,
It means if you trust the Lord, He will never be late,
In supplying all your personal need,
I tell you this is a treasure indeed.
Do you have the treasure of faith today?
Are you looking to Jesus to show you the way?
He is the beginning of faith and its source,
Believe in Him and you will have no remorse.
When having faith in Him – you upon Him lean,
And of His goodness and power you will glean.
Faith is really a wonderful treasure,
It conquers the world and has no failure.
