The Promise

Heaven; a place many people talk about, but relatively few are preparing to go to! It is a place of indescribable beauty, splendor, abundance, and tranquility from the description of its capitol city given in Revelation 21:1-22. In John 1, Jesus tells His disciples (who were probably troubled because of His impending departure from them) not to be troubled (stirred or agitated); just as they believed in God who they could not see they should also believe in Him. And then the promise in verses 2-3, “In My Father’s house are many mansions”, (staying places or residences,) so they are not just to look at like tourist attractions, but they are places in which to abide. He then continues, “I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; (this follows the pattern of the Eastern marriage custom which His followers would be very familiar with) that where I am, there you may be also.” He will prepare a place for them but His reason for doing so is so they can be with Him where He is, the purposeful result of perfect love! When Thomas questions where He is going and how to get there, Jesus answers, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (verse 6). There are not many ways to heaven, Jesus is the only way; not many roads all ending there, Jesus is the only road, and His road is narrow (Matthew 7:14); there are not many gospels of truth to guide us along the way, He alone is the truth, His gospel is the only good news to show us the way; there are not many ways that lead to and produce life, He alone is the life and the way that leads to eternal life!

Heaven

-By Rose Hill

There’s a place somewhere that is my home,

When upon this earth I cease to roam.

It is a place of perfect bliss,

When I get there I won’t this earth miss.

The redeemed are going to that place,

The saved of every tribe and race.

I will see my Savior when I get there,

He is so beautiful, lovely and fair.

I’ll see my family who has gone on before,

Friends and loved ones and many more.

Flowers and trees will be more real,

The glory of it all I will feel.

Streets of gold and mansions fair,

That’s what I’ll see when I get there.

Pain and sickness will pass away,

Yes it will be a brand new day.

Heaven is surely a wonderful place,

Full of beauty, love, and grace.
