Awesome

“Our God is an awesome God”. Psalm 8:3-4 considers the vastness of His created universe and in the midst of its entire splendor asks why He chose man above everything else upon which to bestow His utmost care and attention. The term “son of man” is applied to Jesus in the New Testament, and remember that He laid aside His garments of heavenly glory (Philippians 2:6-7) to become man, as God visiting man and becoming like man, and for a little while “lower than the angels, for the suffering of death … that He … might taste death for everyone” Hebrews 2:9. Now look at Psalms 96, 97, and 98 which are a song of praise and worship, giving glory to this awesome God; and Israel, with all the other people on earth, and even nature itself are encouraged to join the chorus of worship and praise in “the beauty of holiness” for He reigns, and “He is coming to judge the earth. With righteousness He shall judge the world, and the peoples with equity” 98:9, the Amplified Bible adding to the term “judge”, “[and rule]”. Yes He will judge and rule the earth with equity, and His ultimate purpose for man and earth will be fulfilled!

A Big Wonderful God

-By Rose Hill

God is so big and I am so small,

I worship Him and stand in Awe.

When I view the work of His mighty finger,

In His presence I praise and linger.

What am I that He’s mindful of me?

The beauty of the moon and stars I see.

The Lord is excellent in the work of His hands,

So I must tell of His glory in many lands.

Now I won’t let my troubles annoy,

For even the trees are singing for joy.

I will sing to the Lord a brand new song,

For He has overcome what is so wrong.

His right hand and His arm so strong,

Has saved those who to Him belong.
