Winter

Winter is known as the coldest season of the year, the weather can become tempestuous, the nights are long and in many agricultural zones the earth seems mostly barren; all this can contribute to loneliness and despair. Winter in human life can express times of distress, loneliness, pain, suffering, lack, or hurt. Perhaps you are going through a “winter” season having been betrayed by a friend, forsaken by a family member, or have suffered a setback through loss of employment, or declining health. Let me encourage you in this long winter night season to listen for the voice of God, for He speaks in the night as He did to Daniel in 2:19; 7:2,13, to Jacob in Genesis 28:11-16, and to Paul in Acts 16:9; 27:23-25. In Elihu’s admonition in Job 33:14-15 he said, “For God may speak in one way or another … In a dream, in a vision of the night …” but he points out, “… man does not perceive it.” In Mark 4:9 and other places Jesus said, “… He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” He speaks in many ways, listen for His voice. Possibly you are walking in the long dark winter night of sin without Jesus (all of us at one time have been there) turn to Him today. In Song of Solomon 2:8-14 the beloved (picturing Jesus) comes announcing that spring time has come for the winter is past. However the Shulamite (picturing us) has got to answer His call and come out from behind her walls to partake of and delight in it!” Today …” as the Bible says, “…if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts” Hebrews 3:7-8, 15 & 4:7.

A winter message

By Rose Hill

He speaks in the night, (See Matthew 10:27 Amplified Bible)

Do you feel like winter is a cold dark night?

And nothing seems to be going right?

But God speaks in the winter dark and cold,

And His promises will never grow old.
