Your Light

Peter, that famous Apostle, the one whose confession of faith is the bedrock and pillar of the Church as seen in Matthew 16:16-19, later wrote to the Church in his first epistle 2:9, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” The same Greek word for praises in this verse is translated as “virtue” in 2 Peter 1:5; our calling is not, only out of darkness, but to “shine as lights in the world” Philippines 2:15, proclaiming His virtues, His excellence, His goodness, His wonderful works, Yes the light of His glory, not just in words but in our lifestyle reflecting His. Remember He is the light within us, He said in John 8:12 “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” Then in Matthew 5:16 He said we should let the light that is in us “so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your father in heaven.” Good works here in the Greek implies “an act”. How are your actions, do they reflect Christ? Remember our words are only as strong as the actions behind them! Always remember Jesus words in Matthew 5:14, “You are the light of the world…” Does the world see Jesus in you?

Called

By Rose Hill

God has called us to take His message of life,

To those who are in darkness and strife.

He has caused that our path be flooded with light

So we can show the way to those in the night.

If we press forward to win the lost,

And do not draw back at any cost.

Then there will be rejoicing in heaven above,

When souls are delivered and receive God’s love.
