The Path Of Life

A path is a place that is worn by footsteps, or a trail; it is a walkway for people on foot, a line of movement, and also a course of conduct or procedure. Psalm 16 11 says, speaking to God, “You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” The previous verse is part of a Messianic prophecy from which I don’t think we dare separate this verse. However verse 11 is not only speaking of Messiah but also to all of those who are in Messiah, in Christ Jesus! How is it then that we become so distracted by the surrounding landscape that we wonder from this path and become lost in the thicket? It is for one reason, “the god of this age” (2 Corinthians 4:4) has blinded our eyes so we fail to see and understand that he, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy” John 10:10. But let’s look at the rest of the verse where Jesus continued, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” Indeed He is the ultimate fulfillment of Psalm 16:11 to all that turn to Him and walk on the path in which He leads, refusing to be distracted by the distractions and deceptions of the thief which always and only lead to darkness. Jesus is the light, yes, “my light and my salvation” Psalm 27:1. Won’t you call upon Him to set your feet on this path and lead you “in the way everlasting” Psalm 139:24? I promise you He will not disappoint; He will deliver the goods, for His promise is not like the deceptions of the thief!

The Right Path

By Rose Hill

The path of life You show to me,

For in Your presence I am free.

To take of Your abundant life,

And be delivered from fear and strife.

This life You give is caused to flourish,

Your promise is that I won’t perish.

This brings to me the joy of living,

The health and breath that God is giving.
