Light and Truth

There are two contrasting elements in every day, they are light and darkness; Light reveals, darkness obscures. These same two elements are in play in the Spiritual realm as well. Jesus alluded to this in John 11:9-10 when He said “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day he does not stumble because he sees the light of this world. But if one walks in the night, he stumbles because the light is not in him.” Jesus teachings are often given as stories from this life that we understand, but having a spiritual meaning. Either you are walking in the light of His person and the truth of His word, or you are walking in the darkness of Satan and his lie! Jesus is both truth, “I am the way, the truth, and the life”, John 14:6, and the light, “I am the light of the world”, John 8:12; 9:5. The word of the Lord is also both truth, “Your word is truth”, John 17:17, and light, Psalm 119:105, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path”. Is your path flooded with light, or is it obscured in darkness? Proverbs 4:18 KJV says, “the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.” Could we not paraphrase it to say, “The path of the redeemed shines brighter and brighter as the world around us grows darker and darker and we approach the day of the Lord – the day of Christ’s return?”
Walking in truth
By Rose Hill
The path I walked was black as night,
And I couldn’t see which way was right.
Then in God’s word I saw the light,
And the path became so very bright.
The truth of His word I have proved,
And from it I shall not be moved.
