Ruth, the transformed life

Ruth is a perfect example of one who is not a child of God but turning to Him with all the heart experiences a complete transformation. As a Moabitess she came from a nation who while having a blood-link to Israel as descendants of Lot they were considered enemies of Israel, and thus enemies of the God of Israel; warring against Israel and even trying to have them cursed, Joshua 24:9, and serving false gods, Judges 10:6. However Ruth married into the family of Israel and chose to follow the God of Israel, Ruth 1:4, 16-17. Notice that in Ruth 1 this was a choice she herself had to make, and because of her choice she became an ancestress in the genealogy of the Lord Jesus, Matthew 1:5, what a transformation our God brings from enemy background to being a part of the family! We, like Ruth, come from a background of enmity against God by sin and wicked works, yet when we turn to Him with all our heart we are reconciled from these unto God, Colossians 1:21; Romans 5:10, and made new, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” 2 Corinthians 5:17. But like Ruth, this is a choice you must make for yourself, today the choice is presented to you, Jesus said, ”Come to Me…and I will give you rest. “Will you turn back from the invitation, seeking the old ways like Ruth’s sister-in-law Orpah, or choose to pursue a new life like Ruth, Ruth 1:15-17, and so be given “a future and a hope” Jeremiah 29:11.
Ruth
By Rose Hill\
God really did love a woman named Ruth,
She was a Moabitess but she wanted the truth.
When her husband died she went with his mother,
For she loved her God more than any other.
She said, “I will go wherever you go,
Your people and your God I surely will know.
To go to a strange land she wasn’t afraid,
So the Lord blessed her for the decision she made.
Then the Lord gave her a companion to cheer her heart,
She received many blessings and a brand new start.
Yes God surely did love a woman named Ruth,
For more than anything else she wanted the truth.
