His Presence For A New Year

In 2 Chronicles 15:2 Asa has inherited the throne of Judah, and Azariah is speaking in the power of prophetic voice, “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you while you are with Him…” This absolute statement applies to every one of us throughout all ages as well, and is one we should embrace as we begin this New Year. In psalm 91:14-16 God responds to the Psalmists list of blessings upon those who dwell in His secret place, verse 1, saying “I will be with him in trouble…” Verse 15. Whether you are personally facing trouble right now or not we live in a world where trouble abounds on every hand. The secret of protection and safety is His presence with us, which He promises if we abide in Him. In Psalm 119:117 the psalmist prays “Hold me up and I shall be safe,” and then continues with a commitment “And I shall observe Your statutes continually.” Then in verse 147 he gives us the key, “I rise before the dawning of the morning; And cry for help; I hope in Your word.” It is good to seek the Lord early in your day before the hustle and bustle begins, but also early before trouble arises so we are prepared whatever comes hoping, with confidence, in His word.

New Year’s Prayer

By Rose Hill

Thank you Lord, that You are near,

Holding my hand in this New Year.

Guiding me each day with Your word,

It’s the best message I ever heard.

In times of trouble I know You will help,

As in the past Your touch I felt.

There is no one else that cares like You,

Without Your help what would I do?

I must tell of all You have done,

To help this poor and needy one.

You are with me, I will not fear,

You will protect me all through this Year.
