He walks with me

In Luke 24 we are told about two of Jesus followers (who were not of the twelve Apostles) going to Emmaus on the day of His Resurrection. They were downhearted and perplexed because they believed He was the Messiah, but three days earlier He had been crucified, and now on this morning some from their group had gone to the tomb and instead of a dead body being there the tomb was opened and they were greeted by Angels who, in verse 6, told them “He is not here, but is risen!” As they went discussing these things, “Jesus Himself drew near and went with them” verse 15, and explained “to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself” verse 27. However they did not recognize Him until He blessed and broke bread at the supper table. Then He vanished from their sight, and they asked themselves, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road”…”, verse 32. A message in this narrative is that He does walk with and reveal Himself to those who receive and invite Him to do so. They would not have recognized Him had they not invited Him to spend the night and dine with them. Have you invited Him into your life? He said “…I am with you always…” Matthew 28:20, but are you willing to walk with Him? As Azariah said to king Asa, “The Lord is with you while you are with Him…” 2 Chronicles15:2. And if you will choose to walk with Him, one day like Enoch you will walk right into His presence; “And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him”, Genesis 5:24.

He walks with me

By Rose Hill

Oh it is wonderful, How can it be?

That Jesus really wants to walk with me.

As we walk along the way,

He teaches truth from day to day.

The more I walk and talk with Him,

The more I’m cleansed from all my sin.

Then sometime when this life is done,

I’ll walk in heaven with God’s Son.
