Throughout the Scripture God promises strength to His people for every day and for every circumstance of life. In Ephesians 6:10-18, that famous portion showing us the armor that is available to us, armor that we must avail ourselves of if we would be victorious, we read, “Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.” His strength becomes manifest to us as we recognize our own weakness, don His armor, and totally rely on Him. Yes Paul had learned this secret when he said in 2 Corinthians 12:10, “when I am weak, then I am strong.” Isaiah reinforces this in 40:29 when he says “He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength”; this has to include every one of us in our flesh. Like Paul, as he mused on the battle between sin and righteousness, we too must admit “I know that in me (that is in my flesh) nothing good dwells…” a principle we can apply to daily situations. Paul, however, had also learned “The rest of the story” in Philippians 4:13 when he boldly declared “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” The Psalmist also confirms the promise of strength in 29:11 when he said “The Lord will give strength to His people…”
I Promise You Strength To Win
-By Rose Hill
Be strong in the Lord, by His power free from sin,
His boundless might provides strength for you to win.
You can stand strong, and by the devil not be harmed,
If you draw your strength from God, and by Him be armed.
For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood here,
But with spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly sphere.
Therefore we must put God’s complete armor on,
For we must stand our ground when to battle we’ve gone.
We must put truth around our loins and tighten our belt,
Where sincerely right standing with God will be felt.
And put the gospel of peace upon our feet,
Being ready to face the enemy on the street.
Then we’ll lift up our saving faith as a shield,
And to the enemies suggestions we’ll not yield.
We put the helmet of salvation on our head,
Remembering what God’s word has said.
Praying at all times and in every season,
To intercede for others is the reason.
Obeying God’s commands we’ll have His favor,
God’s blessings are for those who love Jesus our Savior.
