The need for companionship is basic in the human heart. I doubt that there are many, if any, who are true “loners” at heart; oh some may appear as a “loner” due to inferior feelings, bashfulness, or embarrassment over something in the past, but deep down in the heart there is a desire and a need for friendship and companionship. No matter what life dishes out to you having a true friend and companion can be the difference between victory or defeat, success or failure, overcoming or being overcome. When going through dark hours, a true companion can make the way so much brighter; while going through times of joy and happiness, never forget that a joy unshared is only half a joy! The Bible speaks of our need for companionship in Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 “Two are better than one…if they fall, one will lift up his companion…Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him…” This is so true of natural companionship, but there is a far greater companionship, that of a spiritual “friend who sticks closer than a brother” Proverbs 18:24. A friend we do not behold with natural eyes, being more than a natural body; a spirit being that lives in a natural body, we find our rest in the presence of this friend, whose name we call Jesus. In His departing message recorded in Matthew 28:20, He gave this promise to His followers: “Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” In John 14:18-23 He had already promised “I will come to you…We (Me and My Father) will come to him (the person that loves Me) and make Our home (will stay or reside) with him.” This would be through the Holy Spirit who He breathes into us at the new birth, (John 20:22), to “abide with you (us) forever” John 14:16. Rose’s poetry rhyme today is based on Hebrews 13:5-6, which says in part, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
I Promise To Never Leave You
-By Rose Hill
I will never leave you or forsake,
My promise to you I will not break.
I will never give up on you,
If to Me you’re faithful and true.
Don’t worry about your problems here,
I am your helper so never fear.
When your love for Me is greater by far,
Than your caring for earthly problems are.
