The Bible says in Philippians 4:7 “the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” There is no storm in life so tempestuous that the words and presence of Jesus cannot bring peace into it. The disciples experienced this firsthand in a storm so severe they thought they would go under; when they called upon Jesus, He rebuked the tempest and said to the sea “Peace be still” and calm prevailed, Mark 4:37-39. The writer in Proverbs 3:1-2 observes that by remembering God’s law and adhering to His commands one will not only be given “length of days and long life”, but these will be filled with peace. Psalm 119:165 also speaks along this line saying “Great peace have those who love Your law…” and Isaiah 32:17 says, “The work of righteousness will be peace, and the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever.” Jesus “is made unto us…righteousness…” 1 Corinthians 1:30 KJV. 2 Corinthians 5:21 declares “For He (God) made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” Therefore He who works righteousness in us has given us this assurance, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you: not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” Again in John 16:33 “These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
I Promise You Peace
-By Rose Hill
The storm is raging and the waves do beat,
And there seems to be no place of retreat.
But Jesus will arise and say, “Peace be still”,
And the wind and the sea will obey His will.
To have a great peace of mind,
And a life worth living find.
Then righteousness is a must,
And in the Lord put all your trust.
“I give you a peace just like My own,
More peace than the world has ever known.
Troubles come in on every side,
But they can’t harm when in me you abide.
Instead of frustration you will have cheer,
Because in Me you have nothing to fear.
So don’t permit your heart to be afraid,
‘Cause you know I will always come to your aid.
So now you can really be content,
For help from heaven I have sent.
