There is an old song that says, “You can have a song in your heart in the night”, and Psalm 42:8 certainly backs that up saying, “The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, And in the night His song shall be with me.” Certainly darkness covers the earth today; not the darkness that fills a space in every 24 hour day, but the darkness of violence, sinfulness, pain, heartbreak, tears, loneliness, etc. It is easy to rejoice in the daytime when everything is going good and we see the lovingkindness of God being poured all over us clearly; but when we face the dark and difficult night, God is just as good as He is in the day, and He promises that we can still have a song… Isaiah 60:2 “For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the Lord will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you.” Remember the darker the night the brighter the light appears! He promises that no matter how dark your night may be that He will be with you in light, and you can rejoice because of that light which is in His presence; and the radiance of that light will attract others to Him… Isaiah 60:3 “The Gentiles (non-believers) shall come to your light…”
A Song In The Night
-By Rose Hill
(Inspired by Psalm 42:8)
The darkness of sin has covered the earth,
But still many are receiving the new birth.
For even through the darkness of the night,
The lord is shining His wonderful light.
Some still sit in the darkness so great,
But God’s love will shine through before it’s too late.
Your loved ones who walk in the darkness today,
Will know His love because you pray.
You say the night is so very long,
But God will surely give you a song.
For His love for you is so very great,
And to answer your prayers He won’t be late.
