Several verses in the Old Testament speak of a time when the earth will be filled with the glory of the Lord. The scope of this glory will be so extensive, that what is probably the best known of these verses, Habakkuk 2:14, says: “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, As the waters cover the sea.” While still awaiting ultimate fulfillment, the beginning of this began with the ministry of Jesus, and was then conferred upon the church to carry the message “into all the world”, Mark 16:15. But is there a personal application? Yes. Do you remember from Genesis 2:7 that we (the physical part of us) are a part of the earth, having actually been created from the earth? Therefore, we relate to and share with the earth. In an intimate moment, God breathed into this “earth creation” the breath of life, which only He can give, but, because this “earth creation” allowed the earthly part of him to pull him down to the earth, he was separated from the intimacy of the life of his creator. The “earth creation” needs a new infusion of God’s breath to restore intimacy with God, John 20:22. The question today is not so much if or when “the knowledge of the glory of the Lord” will fill the earth, but is have you experienced, and are you experiencing daily, the life giving surge of His breath filling your earth; are you walking in “the knowledge of the glory of the Lord”, continually submitting to that life force, or are you allowing the earth nature to pull you down?
The Glory Of The Lord
-By Rose Hill
(Taken from Numbers 14:21; Psalm 72:19 & Habakkuk 2:14)
The earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord,
We will stop fighting and lay down our sword.
The Lord does many wonderful things,
The whole earth filled with His glory sings.
We will bless His name forever and ever,
And will not stray from His love, no never.
The time is coming when the knowledge of His glory,
Will cover the earth, what a wonderful story.
As the waters cover the sea it will be,
And we from all bondage will be free.
We in this world His glory must show,
So spread the good news wherever you go.
