A choice is given to us when we face difficulties, to praise or to complain! Our choice is pivotal toward victory or defeat. Rebellion and Complaining seem to have a close relationship, and between them they kept a whole generation from entering the promised land of Canaan, Numbers 14:2-3; 22-23. 1 Corinthians 10:10 warns us not to “complain as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer.” On the other hand, Obedience and Praise also seem to have a close relationship. When Israel finally came to conquer the land. they approached a walled city, Jericho. In obedience to God’s command, they marched around the city thirteen times in a week without seeing any apparent results (perhaps a test of their obedience and faith); but then they are given a demonstration of the power that Obedience and Praise releases, as the trumpet blowing priests and the ark of the covenant proceed around the city with the armed men. The finale: “Shout, for the Lord has given you the city” and when the shout of Praise/Victory ascended “the wall fell down flat”, Joshua 6. There is no difficulty too great for Obedience and Praise to conquer; Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Learn To Praise
-By Rose Hill
I wanted to praise all day long!
I wanted to have in my heart a song!
But then there came a pain in the head,
I was feeling so bad I complained instead.
The next time I will do better I thought;
To please the Lord I really sought,
When I felt bad praise I brought.
But it took so long for the pain to be gone,
I just didn’t see how praise would belong.
So there came a complaint,
I didn’t act like a saint.
When will I ever learn to praise,
And please the Lord all of my days?
I know the Lord doesn’t like a complaint,
I must learn to suffer like a saint.
I can do all things, yes I know,
If I let His strength through me flow.
