Words of wisdom from Job 14:1 say, “Man who is born of woman is of few days and full of trouble” meaning commotion, restlessness, disquiet, and anger. A like thought is found in Job 5:7, “man is born to trouble…”, and a different Hebrew word here means toil, labor, sorrow, grief, pain, fatigue, misery, and exhaustion. What these words of wisdom tell us is that no one born into this world is exempt from trouble and difficulties! This is because our forefathers Adam and Eve not only disobeyed God, but also at the same time gave Satan pseudo ruler-ship over this world. Even Jesus faced his ferocious attacks and difficulties, but in so doing, He knows what our battle is like, and is able to aid us through the temptations (Cf. Hebrews 2:18). In God’s mercy He sees and knows (observes, cares, and recognizes) our difficulties and troubles, and has not abandoned us to them (Psalm 31:7-8). Those of us who are in Christ are no longer under the enemies’ sway or control, even though we face his attacks (verse 8), rather, we are planted in Him who came to “destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8); and now we are to display His beauty, receive the showers of His Spirit, and produce His fruit on every hand (Psalm 1:3).
Showers Of Grace
-By Rose Hill
(From Psalm 31:7 and 1:3)
My trouble, O Lord, You will consider,
And my flower and leaf will not wither.
For I am planted in a good place,
And I will receive Your showers of grace.
Yes, I will prosper in all I do,
Because I serve and love You.
