When beginning his leadership role in Israel, God said to Joshua, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night …” (Joshua 1:8). The “law” refers to the precepts or statutes of God, and “depart”, in the Hebrew, means receding by contact, or to withdraw; He then continues by instructing Joshua to meditate in it, and observe to do the things contained therein, promising that in doing so, he would prosper and have good success. Isaiah 59:21 echoes the same word concerning His covenant, His words, and His Spirit, that endues His prophets and believers. Not allowing these to depart from our mouth means not to let go of them, not to forget them, not to esteem them lightly. Keep them alive and active in your daily life. Deuteronomy 6:6-9 reiterates the same trend of thought, and in Psalm 119:46, the Psalmist declares” “I will speak of Your testimonies also before kings, And will not be ashamed.” The continuous confession of His word not only keeps us reminded to walk in His ways, but it also stimulates our faith, and activates His promises and provisions to us.
Confess His Word
-by Rose Hill
On Your word a confession we make,
As into our heart Your words we take.
In Your word our roots grow deep,
Even at times we have to weep.
For this is the way our faith will grow,
And our understanding of Your way we know.
In this season and at this hour,
We will see a demonstration of Your power.
As in our lives new life You bring,
It makes our souls rejoice and sing.
