God’s love is declared to us in one of the most classic verses in the Bible, John 3:16, which says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…” Love is very costly; love sacrifices everything for its object. God’s love for us is a sacrificial love that caused Him to give His all in “His only begotten Son” who laid aside the splendor of God to become one of us, bearing our sin, and suffering its penalty, even unto death, so we could have the life of God restored in us! And Jeremiah 31:3 shows us the duration of that love: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love…”, while Romans 8:35 brings us to understand that no matter what we have to pass through He will go with us through it. John 13:1 is as applicable to us as it was to His twelve disciples, “having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.” The end to those who receive freedom from sin by believing in Him is “everlasting life” (Romans 6:22).
The Power Of God’s Love In His Word
-by Rose Hill
I’ve loved you with an everlasting love,
This is a message from your Father above.
With loving-kindness I have drawn you,
And in My faithfulness I’ve been true.
You I prized and showed My love,
When I sent My Son from heaven above.
To die on the cross for all your sin,
And pay the price your love to win.
No one can ever make My love end,
On Me you can surely always depend.
Even if suffering and affliction come your way,
Right by your side I will always stay.
Calamity and distress will not overtake,
I love you much, and for your sake,
Persecutions and sword I bring you through,
And supply your need, that’s what I’ll do.
