Where Is God’s Secret Place? (Part 1)

Psalm 91 begins with the words “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” So the question of where His secret place is, is answered in this verse, it is under His shadow, (or we might say in His presence). This secret place is not portrayed as one free of difficulties and battles, but as one of overcoming them, as the life stories of great heroes in the Bible reveal. It was this secret place of His presence that gave Moses courage to lead Israel onward in Exodus 33:14; it was the secret place of His presence that carried Noah through the flood, the ark being a symbol of that presence, in Genesis 7:16 & 8:15-19. The Shepherd-Psalmist, David, in Psalm 23:5, found that the table of God’s provision during this life is not in the absence of enemies, but in the midst of them! In Exodus 33:18-23, Moses requested to see God’s glory but was told no (physical) man could see God’s face and live. There would come a day when under a new covenant men would be “born again” and those that receive this experience and serve Him, will in their new body see His face (Revelation 22:4). Moses, however, could stand upon the rock and God put him in a cleft thereof while His glory passed by, then Moses could see Him from behind. Symbolically, the rock speaks of Christ Jesus who is the Rock of our salvation (Matthew 16:18), the Rock cleft or broken for us (1 Corinthians 11:24), so that our broken life can be made whole, and we can experience the blessings of Psalm 91, and have that living hope of seeing Him face to face (1 John 3:2.) Yes the secret place of God’s presence is found in Christ Jesus.

Enter God’s Secret Place

-By Rose Hill

God wants you to enter His secret place now,

To receive this blessing He will show you how.

First you must say no to all known sin,

And give your life completely to Him.

This will open the door to the secret place,

Where you will receive of God’s wonderful grace.

The secret place is a place of rest,

Where in His presence you can be blessed.

Yes this is truly God’s secret place,

Where you are receiving of His mercy and grace.
