Every birth requires the involvement of a father; the new birth also requires the involvement of a heavenly Father! 1 Peter 1:3 says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” And “As a father pities his children” (caresses them, loves them, and is compassionate toward them) “So the Lord pities those who fear Him” (Psalm103:13). Love and compassion are the heart of God toward all men everywhere as we see demonstrated in Romans 5:8; but to qualify as His child is defined in Galatians 3:26, “For you are all sons (children KJV) of God through faith in Christ Jesus.” It is here that His special attention becomes focused on us, “And because you are sons, God has sent forth the spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, Abba, Father” (Galatians 4:6). As we see over and over again in Scripture, God’s actions are spawned by our actions, and so in 2 Corinthians 6:17-18, His commitment to be a Father to us is linked to our separating ourselves from the uncleanness of our flesh and the world around us and committing unto Him. Remember His “thoughts are very deep” (Psalm 92:5), and are toward us, “thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope” Jeremiah 29:11. Remember on this Father’s day to give Him “the glory due unto His name” (Psalm 29:2). Honor Him as the great Father that He is!
Your Father’s Love
-By Rose Hill
God is thinking of you for you’re His child,
Even if your life is confused and wild.
He knows when you’re at the end of the rope,
Keep hanging on He’s sending hope.
He is thinking of you all the time,
He says, “I love you for you are mine”!
God’s thoughts today you don’t understand,
Nor do you know or see His plan.
His thoughts are serious and very deep,
So don’t be sad or even weep.
For His thought’s and plans are for your good,
And He cares for you, as a father should.
