The Bible has much to say about little children with reference to Christians. In Mark 10:13-16 people brought little children to Jesus to be touched by Him; the disciples apparently thought it was a hindrance and “rebuked” them, but Jesus “was greatly displeased” with that and said, “Whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall by no means enter it.” Why should we be as little children? Well, consider some of the characteristics of little children: they are humble, they are trusting, they recognize their weakness and inabilities, they look to their parents for help, they seek to imitate their parents, and they become submissive to parents when trained right. Can you see how any of these apply to those who are “born of God”, 1 John3:9; 5:18? Too often we want to be the leader, the mature one: but first we must be as little children! Yes there is a counterbalance and we must grow up and develop in Christian maturity, and we plan to look at this and the balance between the two next week.
Little children
By Rose Hill
Little children:
I have a message for you,
It’s the last time and oh so true!
Open your heart to what I say,
I want My children to live this way.
Little children:
May love in your heart be found,
That love for Me will abound.
Then let love for others overflow,
It will help you more of My ways to know.
Little children:
Like a child you must humble be,
And from selfish ways be set free.
This is the way to receive mercy and grace,
And someday enter My heavenly place.
Little children:
Don’t be deceived by any other way,
Than what My Holy Word doth say.
And My child stay away from all sin,
It’s the only way My prize to win.
