When we see the beauty of the world all around us, the flowers that bloom, the grass that grows, the sun that shines, the stream that flows, the birds that sing, the animals that roam, the fruit of the ground, and the people that populate the earth, we remember that all are the handiwork of our beautiful God. Genesis 1:1 says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” And Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, “He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their (men’s) hearts”. Several times as God viewed His work of creation in Genesis 1 “He saw that it was good” but only after He “created man in His own image”, the crowned gem of His creation, does it say “God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good.” But alas, through the enticement of Satan men fell into deterioration and death, plunging all their posterity into the same fate! But in His beauty, love, and mercy, our loving Creator/Father, at great cost to Himself, devised a plan of redemption whereby His beauty could be restored in us; it is called being “born again” John 3:3,7, made possible “through His blood” Ephesians 1:7, and a “new creation” is formed within us, 2 Corinthians 5:17. The word new is the Greek Kainos, which indicates new in freshness rather than time, or restoration rather than starting over “from scratch”. What a beautiful Father; what a beautiful Savior! Have you received Him into your heart and life? If not, I beg of you to do so now.
All things bright and beautiful
Selected by Rose Hill By Cecil Frances Alexander (copyright unknown)
All things bright and beautiful,
All creation great and small,
All things wise and wonderful,
The Lord God made them all.
Each little flower that opens,
Each little bird that sings,
He made their glowing colors,
He made their tiny wings.
The purple headed mountains,
The river running by,
The sunset and the morning,
That brightens up the sky.
The cold wind in the winter,
The pleasant summer sun,
The ripe fruit in the garden,
He made them every one.
He gave us eyes to see them,
And lips that we might tell,
How great is God almighty,
Who has made all things well.
