Becoming depressed, discouraged, and feeling like a failure, is a tactic Satan uses to render God’s children unfruitful in acquiring and accomplishing all God’s purposes for them. Perhaps Elijah felt this way even after witnessing God’s provision and seeing His power manifested through him. He moves in fear and spends the night in a cave depressed, then the Lord comes and asks him, “What are you doing here Elijah?” 1 Kings 19:9. In verse 10 he tells the Lord just how he feels, and in verses 11-14 God basically tells him to get out of that dark cave, and as he comes to the entrance God asks the same question, to which Elijah gives the same answer; then in verses 15-18 God basically tells him to get out of that place of despondency, discouragement, feeling like a failure, and get back into His service saying “Go, return on your way…” instructing him what to do. Learn with the Apostle Paul that we “walk by faith, not by sight” 2 Corinthians 5:7. Purpose with Jesus to do the father’s will “and to finish His work”, John 4:34; and to lift up your head with David who, when greatly distressed, “encouraged himself in the Lord his God” 1 Samuel 30:6 KJV. Remember to those who trust in Him, “the future is just as bright as the promises of God.”
When I Feel Like A Failure
By Rose Hill
Oh Lord, whatever I do
Turn it into something that glorifies You.
Even if it seems to be all wrong,
Turn it into a beautiful song.
When some days I feel so weak,
Help me get the strength I seek.
When my soul cries out for rest,
Please turn the tide, and I’ll be blessed.
Oh, my God I praise Your name,
Every day You are the same.
