Psalm 19 speaks of two specific ways in which God has revealed Himself to the world. First in verses 1-6 He gives us a general revelation of Himself, His Power, Might, and Goodness through what we call “nature”. Though incomplete, the Apostle says “Nevertheless He did not leave Himself without witness…” Acts 14:17. No matter where you go “The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament (expanse of heaven) shows His handiwork.” Even the Wise men in Matthew 2:1-12 knew that the “King of the Jews” had been born through the revelation of the constellations. Then in verses 7-14 this Psalm shows that God gives us a complete revelation of Himself through His word. This is where Christian Believers come into the picture for we have received His revelation have also been entrusted to carry it to the ends of the earth, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel…” Mark 16:15. The gospel is the good news about Jesus 1 John 4:9; He is the living Word, John 1:1-5, the embodiment of everything that is written. It is in Him that we behold the glory of the Father, John 1:14; 14:19. And salvation is only found in Him John 3:17; 14:6.
God’s Wonderful Works
By Rose Hill
(Taken from Psalm 139:14; Psalm 19; Psalm 40:5.)
Your works, O Lord, are mighty great,
I love Your power to create.
The heavens are wonderful to behold,
Through the firmament Your works are told.
No one can ever with You compare,
And never can anyone Your glory share.
Your wonderful works are many more,
Than I can count or even explore.
You save Your people from every foe,
Your power to deliver us we all know.
