A Talk With Jesus

In Luke 24:13-35 we have the account of two of Jesus followers going to Emmaus on the day of His resurrection, they were downcast, sad, their hopes dashed, and their future plans crumbled, not really knowing how to face their future, when Jesus appeared on the road and joined them. While they had heard His teaching, and that of the prophets, their eyes still were blinded by a spiritual veil causing them to fail to grasp and understand these things. Because Jesus “knew what was in man” John 2:25, He certainly knew why they were so sad and downcast, but He wanted them to tell Him all about it drawing them into conversation, showing us that He wants us to tell Him all that is in our heart, Philippians 4:6 says, “…in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” He feeds on our worship, adoration, praise, and He hears our prayers, Psalm 22:3 says that God is “Enthroned in the praises of Israel” (His people) which means He sits down, dwells, remains, settles, yes and even marries into these praises; and 1 Peter 3:12 says “the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers.” Song of Solomon 2:14, records the beloved’s words to the Shulamite, saying, “…Let me see your face, Let me hear your voice; For your voice is sweet, And you face is lovely…” Now put yourself in the Shuamite’s place and hear Jesus saying these words to you, for this is His heart toward us! And remember that beloved verse in Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to Me, and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”
A Talk With Jesus
Selected by Rose Hill, author unknown
A little talk with Jesus,
How it sooths the rugged road!
How it seems to help me onward,
When I faint beneath my load;
When my eyes are crushed with sorrow,
And my eyes with tears are dim,
There is naught can yield me comfort,
Like a little talk with Him.
