Praise is an art that every child of God should pursue, learn, and practice. Upon coming to Jesus, one of the first things we find is that He gives us “…beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness…” Isaiah 61:3. He has provided and given unto us that garment, but it is up to us to put it on and wear it! In Psalm 147:1 God lets us know what His view of praise is: it is pleasant and beautiful (or suitable), with Psalm 33:1 reinforcing the same thought. All too many take God’s benefits for granted, like nine of the ten lepers that were cleansed in Luke 17:17-18, who failed to return and give God the proper glory. Going back to Psalms, the praise and worship manual of the Old Testament, 34:1 gives us the pattern for what should be our daily lifestyle: “I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” And we find a New Testament counterpart to this in Hebrews 13:15, “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.” May we manifest the overflow of His presence within as in Psalm 45, upon which Rose’s poetry rhyme is based today.
A Heart Full Of Praise

My heart is full and overflows,
Until everyone surely knows,
That I address my praise to a King,
And about His love I will always sing.
O how wonderful is His grace,
And in His kingdom I have a place.
He does many things of great renowned,
It is no wonder He wears the crown.
I love His peace and righteousness,
In garments of trust and love I dress.
Humility I will wear each day,
And put on joy along the way.
For my God is my loving Father,
My devotion is to Him, and to no other.
I will reverence and honor Him,
And always keep my life from sin.
My heart is full and overflows,
With joy and gladness, until everyone knows.
