The Bible says “The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness…” Psalm 24:1.Then Colossians 1:16 says “All things were created through Him and for Him, with Psalm 115:11 telling us “…But the earth He has given to the children of men.” We see in Genesis 1:29 that the fruit of the earth is for our food; but sin was introduced and it became much more difficult to produce the food, Genesis 3:17-19, but a loving God still provides “Every good gift and every perfect gift…” James 1:17, for which we give thanks.
Thankful hearts
By Jane M. Campbell (selected by Rose Hill)
We plow the fields and scatter,
The good seed on the land.
But it is fed and watered,
By God’s almighty hand:
He sends the snow in winter,
The warmth to swell the grain.
The breezes and the sunshine,
And soft refreshing rain.
He only is the maker of all things near and far,
He paints the way-side flower and lights the evening star.
The winds and waves obey Him,
By Him the birds are fed.
Much more to us His children,
He gives our daily bread.
We thank thee, then, O Father,
For all things bright and good.
The seed-time and the harvest,
Our life, our health, our food.
Accept the gifts we offer,
For all thy love imparts.
And, what thou most desires,
Our humble thankful hearts.
