What am I? (Part 14, God’s masterpiece

)

I am God’s masterpiece! Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are His workmen-ship…”, that is His product, His making, His handiwork, His masterpiece, created by the master artisan. Workmanship here has been compared to a poem, which does not create itself but flows from the heart of the Arthur. Psalm 100:3 cries out “… It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves…” While it is true we were created by Him physically, the clear message in Ephesians 2:10 is the spiritual creation by the new birth! There is no such a thing as “A self made man” here; God Himself is the master artesian of the entire universe in which “His invisible attributes are clearly seen” Romans 1:20, and this creation includes us “in His own image” according to Genesis 1:26-27. Physical appearance may or may not be a factor here, but most likely has reference to our spirit and our soul (two separate entities) which includes our relationship and communion with God as well as our intellect, feelings, and emotions; these were severed from God by sin, but are recreated or restored by Him in the new birth by which we are made “a new creation” 2 Corinthians 5:17. So we become His poem, flowing from His heart, seen and read by all men, “created in Christ Jesus, for (not by) good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Finally, while this masterpiece is beautified with His salvation now (see Psalm 149:4) its full beauty has not yet been revealed for our Christian life is an ongoing process until “we shall be like Him for we shall see Him as He is” 1 John 3:2!

God’s masterpiece

We are the product of God’s making,

Much care and planning He is taking,

To the masterpiece He is making.
