God speaks

God is a communicating God that loves to communicate with His people. Often we want to communicate to Him telling Him our needs and requests; but never forget that He wants to communicate with us as well! Certainly the Scripture encourages us to “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God” Philippians 4:6. (The word anxious indicates that we should not be preoccupied with those things that cause anxiety and worry; the same word is translated worry in Matthew 6:25). Surely He tells us in Jeremiah 33:3 to “Call to Me, and I will answer you…” But remember that He is not only a listening God, He is also a speaking God, desiring to commune with us showing us His heart and will! In Psalm 84:8-9 the Psalmist said, “I will hear what the Lord God will speak…” Yes He speaks but it is up to us to listen and hear, “He will speak peace to His people…” Psalm 85:8. So anxious is He to speak of His way and will to us that He shows us numerous ways He used to speak to His people in the Bible; some of them are: Dreams as with Jacob, Genesis 28:12; Visions as in Acts 16:9; Angels, in Luke 2:10; Matthew 28:5; through an audible voice, 1 Samuel 3:9-14; Acts 9:4-7; by a still small voice, we often associate this with that powerful inner prompting, 1 Kings 19:12; through His creation, Psalm 19:3; in circumstances, Luke 22:60-61; through His word, Luke 16:29; John 1:14; Hebrews 1:2; and through Prophets, Pastors and other ministries, Ephesians 4:11-15; Mark 9:7. The question is not is God speaking, it is are we listening!
God speaks
By Rose Hill
God is speaking and I will hear,
What He is saying into my ear.
He says to folly do not turn,
But for His salvation daily yearn.
He is speaking for righteousness in the land,
His righteous standards are so grand.
