John 14 begins with Jesus telling His disciples about His Father’s house and that He was going to prepare a place for them after which He would return and take them there to be with Him forever. Thomas apparently not understanding all this says “Lord, we do not know where You are going, And how can we know the way?” In verse 6 Jesus answers “I am the way…” He is the only way by which we can approach the Father, the only way by which we can enter heaven, the only way by which we can experience eternal life (our spirit will live forever but without Jesus it will be in a state of torment known as eternal death)! There are those that will tell you there are many ways to reach God; some will look to following various self-proclaimed religious leaders, some will rely on doing good works, others will point you to observing religious rules and regulations, some even pray to departed saints to intercede for them, and other such things, but every one of them is a false hope and a lie! Jesus would include these as thieves and robbers in John 10:1. The Bible says “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” Proverbs 14:12, and adding emphasis to the importance of this statement it is repeated in chapter 16:25! Jesus said “You must be born again” John 3:7. The Bible says “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” Acts 4:12 KJV. “To Him (Jesus) all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins” Acts 10:43. And Romans 10:13 adds one more voice of confirmation as to who receives this salvation, “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
The way
By Rose Hill
The way you walk so right it seemed,
For you are following all of your dreams.
Look to Jesus the only way,
And receive eternal life today.
