King David in instructing Solomon on building the Temple in 1 Chronicles 28:9 offered this counsel, “know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal (complete, friendly) heart and with a willing mind…If you seek Him He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever” (perpetual and without end; to underscore forever remember that the same verb is used in Exodus 15:48 of God’s eternal reign). The assurance promised in this verse is that by focusing single-heartedly on God, His kingdom service, and seeking Him, we will find Him. Isaiah 26:3 states that we will find and gain His “perfect peace” by staying (propping or leaning) our mind upon and fully trusting in Him. I believe the number one battleground of our enemies attack against us is through our mind; therefore we must be continuously on alert to his schemes and attacks. James 4:7-8 offers these five parts of our battle gear; (1) “submit to God” (2) “Resist the devil” (3) “Draw near to God” (4) “Cleanse your hands” (we might say your deeds and activities) (5) ”purify your hearts you double minded”; no fence riding here! Jesus spoke of having a “single” eye (properly folded together or clear. We might look at it as being in union with Him) in Matthew 6:22 and Luke 11:34 KJV. And so we will experience God’s great power and in His kingdom light we will shine.
Power
By Rose Hill
Do you want the ability to pray with power,
And God’s blessings to come to you this hour?
Then yield to God your body and soul,
And let the Lord take full control.
Say “not my will but thine be done”,
From the devils suggestions you must run.
Just submit to God all your plans,
All of your thoughts and the work of your hands.
Live for God, forsaking all sin,
Fix your mind on Christ and you will win.
In doing these things great power you’ll find,
And in God’s kingdom you will shine.
