Getting to know God (Part seven)

Another name we find attributed to God found in Genesis 16:13 is “El Roi” or “The God who sees”. Hagar probably felt all alone here in the wilderness, but God saw her and showed up as, “The Angel the Lord” (a term believed to often indicate an Old Testament appearance of Jesus) saying “Where have you come from and where are you going?” verses 7-8. Did He not know this? Absolutely He did, but in addition to letting her know He saw her, He wanted her to tell Him in her own words all about it. 1 Peter 5:7 says, “Casting all your care upon Him,”(your interests, concerns and anxieties) “for He cares for you” And then there’s that well known verse in Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to Me and I will answer you…” No matter where you are or what your circumstances are He sees you and knows your need, but He wants you to tell Him all about it; talk to Him in faith according to His word, and He will meet you where you are. His instructions and answer may not always be in the form you anticipated, but believe me they will be the best! Hagar may not have anticipated going back to Sarai but that was the best for her at that moment! Yes, Proverbs 15:3 says, “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.” From the highest heights to the deepest depths, and to the ends of the earth He sees you! (See Psalm 139:7-12). And 2 Chronicles 16:9 says, “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.” Still not convinced? How about Job 34:21, “For His eyes are on the ways of man, And He sees all his steps.” Or Jeremiah 16:17, “For My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from My face, nor is their iniquity hidden from My eyes.” Yes my friend, His eyes are upon you, and His ears are open when you call!
Our Jehovah God
Part seven by Rose Hill
When you’re left all alone,
With no hope in sight.
I’m El Roi the God who sees,
And knows your plight.
I Am that! That’s who I Am!
